New research is published in MDPI's International Medicines Biochemical Journal on 4/5 about black muscular leaves that have strong antioxidant effects and inhibit cancer. The author is a Vietnamese and Indonesian research group led by Associate Professor Tran Dang Xuan, Head of the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Biochemistry (Hiroshima University, Japan).
Black-radiated tree is Celastrus hindsii. Scientists collected black radiated leaves in Cao Duong commune, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province in 5/2017 to evaluate antioxidant activity including phenolics (TPC) and flavonoids (TFC) . Leaf samples were sterilized and dried at a temperature of 30 degrees C, then separated the active fractions from leaf extracts by analyzing lung gas chromatography (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography. Mass spectrometry (EIS-MS).

Experiments to evaluate the active ingredients in leaves are also carried out, of which special attention is paid to phenolic content - containing many pharmacological activities such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, strong inhibitory ability. Cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. Biological activities such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and protein kinase inhibitors were also evaluated.
In addition to compounds of phenolics and flavonoids, there are also some important compounds such as Maytenolione A (C 3 0H 46 O 4 ) and Celasdine B (C 30 H 50 O 3 ) isolated from leaves. Black radiation and was found to be highly toxic to cancer cell lines as well as anti-copy activity of HIV.
The findings of this study show that black radiant leaves contain many bioactive compounds that can be exploited for medicinal and pharmaceutical purposes. This plant has strong antioxidant properties, giving high levels of phenolics and flavonoids. However, further research is needed on the isolation and purification of these main components from black radiant leaves extract.
Associate Professor Tran Dang Xuan said that medicinal plants such as black radars promise to bring great value in medicine and economy for Vietnam, however, much basic research is needed to determine the content of chemicals. as well as biological activity on cells and clinics.
