The surgery was conducted yesterday and ended this morning. The hospital that performed the surgery said that if confirmed by experts, China would be the second country in the world to successfully perform this type of surgery.

The first water to perform facial graft surgery is France. The patient was surgically replaced by doctors at Amiens after changing his lips, chin and nose after his face was deformed by dogs. Currently the patient has recovered and returned to normal life.

In a statement from Xijing Hospital (Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province - China), during the operation today, patient Li Guoxing, 30, was replaced with one cheek, upper lip, nose and eyebrows from a donor. Details about this donor are not published.

" This surgery is even more complicated than the first face transplant surgery in France last November, " said Han Yan, deputy chief of the Xijing Hospital Surgery Department.

' The patient is in a pretty good condition ,' Xijing hospital officials said. ' The surgery was successful. It is expected that the wound will heal in 1 week '.
