Collars use AI to 'translate' dog emotions
A Korean company has created a collar that uses artificial intelligence to turn a pet's barking into emotions.
The product is called Petpuls Smart Collar and was first introduced by Petpuls , a software company based in Seoul, Korea in 2020 as a crowdfunding project.
According to the product's fundraising page, the collar can help owners better understand and bond with their dog, and help us better meet the dog's needs.
In a press release, Petpuls Labs CEO Stella Jang shared why the company decided to research this particular necklace.

'Many dog owners can't be with their pets all the time. We created Petpuls to give owners an overview of their dog's behavior and activity throughout the day ," said Jang.
'In fact, we often miss out on small changes, which can provide more meaning and insight into the health of pets when carefully monitored ,' added CEO Petpuls.
To create the collar, researchers recorded more than 10,000 barks from 50 different dog breeds and spent more than three years creating an AI program that analyzes these sounds. .
The device is used in conjunction with a smartphone application that transfers information directly to the owner's phone via a Bluetooth connection. So the owner must be within a 4.5m radius for the product to work.
The collar has a tracker that identifies 1 of 5 emotions the pet may feel, including happiness, anxiety, anger, sadness, or comfort. In addition, the product also has the same activity tracking feature on smart bracelet models.
In the past, some companies have also used AI to "read" the expressions and noises of pets. (Image: Getty).
Besides, the product also has a built-in sleep monitoring feature so that users can collect data about the dog's rest schedule. With the features of this bracelet, users can research and monitor their pet's health status based on emotions, activity and sleep.
