Computer needs 2 GB of extra hard drive to play games on Vista

To run Microsoft's new operating system, the PC had to have an empty disk space of up to 800 MB. Even just to run office applications, users need to move 1 GB in memory. For entertainment, gamers need more than that.

Recently, Fuad Abazovic, a computer news reporter, The Inquirer (UK) and a heavy player, had a chance to play Far Cry with a PC with an Athlon 4000 processor and graphics card. Geforce 7800 GTX, running on Vista operating system. The purpose of the test is to check the amount of memory the player needs when playing games on Vista, even though it's just a beta test.

But to run a game that doesn't require too high and "too heavy", Abazovic found that computers would need to add more than 1 GB, exactly according to the proven test of 1.23 GB.

As for the "terrible" games like FEAR, Battlefield or Father's Day, gamers will probably need a hard drive with a much larger capacity than Far Cry because when running on Windows XP, FEAR has also up to 2 GB.

Windows Vista is the next generation operating system of Windows XP. Microsoft recently announced the release of this version was officially delayed until January 2007.
