eBay is about to announce a keyword-based advertising system for people who put products on this popular online auction website. EBay AdContext service will help promote auctions by offering content ads on other websites, a strategy to follow online advertising giants such as Google and Yahoo.
Speaking at a conference of software developers last Saturday, Michael van Swaaij, Bay's chief strategy officer, introduced the "armed" plan to the auctioneers on the auction. e-Bay a content contextual advertising service located on other websites.
EBay's system differs from Google's paid-per-click advertising systems, and rivals Yahoo and Microsoft in that the link will point to eBay auction items, not as a network. Online advertising leads to many websites.
The world's largest e-commerce website says it plans to provide hundreds of thousands of eBay bidders with simple codes so that they can embed advertising links on eBay on other websites.
According to Swaaij, the process of testing this ad program called eBay AdContext is expected to be introduced next week. The products that appear in each specific ad will be determined by the keywords within the content on that site, also known as contextual advertising.
This advertising system will scan content on a Web site to search for keywords and return a list of links related to items being auctioned on eBay. For example, a sports website can automatically be provided with advertisements for sporting equipment or memorable sporting events being auctioned on eBay.
When a list of auctioned items on eBay changes, ads placed on other websites also automatically change on the "advertising network members" website to reflect new products or services offered on eBay. These member sites will receive between 35% and 60% of the eBay revenue earned from auction customers, depending on the quantity.
Advertising forms like this, in effect, will become a new way for website owners from big to small to make money to maintain their website, especially with blogs. individuals often rely on Google's tiny keyword ads to cover operating costs.
eBay sees the AdContext system as an addition to competitors for online advertising services of Yahoo and Google. Many websites can provide both eBay advertising and other advertising services.
