Finding rare orange tail toad fish in Nghe An

An individual with rare, orange-skinned toadfish tosses at a height of 500m has just been discovered in Pu Hoat Nature Reserve (Nghe An province).

Management board of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve (Que Phong district) said that this species of toad fish was discovered in the evening of July 20 in sub-area 101, Nam Giai commune. Previously, a similar toadfish was discovered in sub-area 97.
Orange-tailed toad fish has a lizard-like shape, about 8 to 11cm long, wide head, high-pitched gill, broad bulge, horizontal wrinkles under the belly. In particular, the skin is covered by small nodules that stretch from the front to the base of the tail.
The underside of the fingers and the bottom of the tail are orange, dark brown around the body.
According to an official staff of Phu Hoat Nature Reserve, this fish often lives in places of water, stagnant pools and still waters."This is a rare, hardy toad fish that needs to be preserved , " he said.
