Google has just launched a new app for Apple's iPhone, which links to the world's leading portal services such as e-mail, search and calendar.

Google said the new application will make the process of finding, using and switching between services on the iPhone easier. The company is also developing new mobile technologies that are faster, easier to use, and for more devices. However, detailed information about these technologies has not been disclosed much by Google.

In an effort to expand to wireless, Google said last week that it had participated in a wireless frequency auction with the intention of becoming a new wireless network competing with rivals like Verizon Wireless and AT&T.

In another separate project, Google is also developing a new operating system based on the open source Linux technology called Android for mobile phones. Currently, Google has about 30 partners, including many phone service providers and manufacturers, claiming to support this project.

The iPhone, a touchscreen phone equipped with a full Web browser, has become the most talked about mobile phone model this year when it began selling in the US in late June. iPhone also in turn launched the German and British markets.

Google Maps and YouTube are two of the first applications for iPhone. Last month, Apple said it had allowed outside developers to create software for the iPhone, and that the company also planned to launch an application package developed in February 2008.
