Google's AI photo editing tool will be provided for free to users.

The only requirement related to the machine's configuration. Specifically, Android phones need to run version 8.0 or later , while iOS requires a minimum of version 15.0 or later. Every device should have a minimum of 4 GB of RAM. Otherwise, all Google Photos users can use AI to edit photos for free without needing a Google One subscription.

Additionally, free users on Android and iOS have limited access to Magic Editor - a generative AI tool capable of handling complex image editing tasks. Maximum 10 edits and saves per month for free users. To use more, users must own a Pixel phone or have a premium Google One subscription (paid for 2 TB of storage per month).

With some editing tools, users will have to download them first and select "Install". This operation requires that the device be connected to Wi-Fi to ensure that there are no charges for mobile data usage and that there is at least 1 GB of free memory on the device. However, a few other AI features such as Audio Eraser, Best Take, Video Boost are still exclusive to Pixel 8 series phone users.
