A small technology company in New York said it was preparing to bring Google to court for allegedly violating Internet calling software through Google Talk service.
Jerry Weinberger, executive director of Rates Technology (RTI), said that his company was the first company to invest and successfully research the technology to allow phone calls over the Internet.
Jerry Weinberger said that there were about 120 companies in the world that bought RTI's license before investing in Internet Phone service, including giants like Lucent, Cisco, IBM, Yahoo and Microsoft. Jerry Weinberger asserted that the technology was called Voice over Internet Protocol long ago by RTI but somehow Google did not know this.
RTI filed a lawsuit against Google two months ago in a federal court on technology piracy charges of up to $ 5 million in damages, unless the two companies have an agreement in place. court.
Google has not made any direct comment on the lawsuit but said that the company will try to get rid of all "unworthy" or "trivial" litigation. It is not known how the lawsuit will fall, but news of it caused Google's stock price to drop by $ 5.17 to $ 414.98 per share when closing the Nasdaq market yesterday afternoon.
Internet telephony is currently the communication technology of the world's cheapest and fastest-growing form. Microsoft has teamed up with the telecommunications group MCI to launch a low-cost global Internet calling service in December, matching its shoulders with Skype, Yahoo and Google.
