According to a senior space official, the IRNSS 1C satellite is launched with PSLV C26 boosters from the aerospace airport in Sriharikota, southern India.

This is a satellite built by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), with a lifespan of 10 years.
"India's third navigation satellite has been put into orbit. The entire ISRO team deserves to be congratulated , " ISROK director. Radhakrishnan told the press.
According to NDTV, IRNSS 1C is the third of seven satellites that ISRO is expected to launch to form India's Regional Navigation Satellite System.
This satellite system is expected to be equivalent to the US global positioning system (GPS) and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
The first satellite of this system, IRNSS-1A, was launched in July last year, while the second satellite IRNSS-1B was launched in April.
