The processor's latest effort for the world's leading computers is part of a $ 900 million contract with Motorola. Intel is also one of the leaders in promoting WiMAX wireless technology adoption.

Like Wi-Fi wireless technology, WiMAX offers a high-speed connection without a cable connection. However, WiMAX technology has a wide range of coverage - up to 1.8 km - compared to Wi-Fi technology.

Besides, Intel also plans to add WiMAX connectivity to some Centrino product versions, said Sean Maloney, Intel's vice president of mobile group. Centrino is a microprocessor product package designed with the goal of increasing battery life and making it easy to connect to wireless networks for notebooks.

Along with the popularity of Wi-Fi, Intel's Centrino has also become the fastest-growing product in the past decade. Intel hopes to achieve similar success with new wireless technology.

" Our goal is that in the next 2 to 3 years, Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies will merge. Users will get a chip with full Wi-Fi and WiMAX connectivity , "Maloney said in a recent interview.

Motorola and other investors will contribute the remaining funds - $ 300 million - in a contract with Intel.
