A group of international scientists from the United Kingdom and the United States identified the first gene directly connected to height.

Conducting DNA analysis on 35,000 people, scientists found that a single letter in the genetic code in the person responsible for work made some people higher than others, reported in the Guardian newspaper on Monday.

Scientists believe that inheriting a HMGA2 gene with a letter C is written in the genetic code instead of adding about ¼ inch to the height of one person while inheriting two copies can increase by ½ inch.

Joel Hirshhorn, a researcher in the group, said: 'Height is a complex trait, related to different genetic and non-genetic factors, which can teach us valuable lessons. about the genetic framework of other complex characteristics such as diabetes, cancer and other common diseases in humans. '

The study was conducted by scientists at Harvard University and Boston Children's Hospital together with British researchers at Oxford University and Peninsula Medical School in Exeter.
