Vulnerabilities in the new generation operating system have been discovered since the beginning of the month but have not been patched. Many software, including Microsoft's own, cannot work on Windows Vista environments. This makes many experts have to ask questions.
Vista has been on the market for nearly a month, but business users and technology experts are reluctant to part with Windows XP.
The reason is that many programs currently cannot be compatible with Vista, such as IBM Lotus Notes application package, Cisco virtual private network and Check Point Software, Intuit QuickBooks accounting software 2006, Trend Micro security program and even Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database.
Besides, on 12/12, software firm based in Redmond, Washington (USA) released a patch for Internet Explorer 7 running on Windows XP and Server 2003 but not for Vista. Microsoft spokesman said the update will appear with the launch of Windows Vista in January.
Microsoft did not explain why they delayed patching Vista despite the product being distributed to corporate customers. Russ Cooper, an analyst with security company Cybertrust (USA), hypothesized that this proves that Microsoft just launched Vista on the right track, but actually they didn't want anyone to install Vista until early 2007. .
However, sooner or later, it is natural to upgrade to Vista, especially when the operating system is integrated into new computers. " Many people regret Windows XP, but it has been around for five years, technology has changed a lot and it's time we need to open the door to new software personnel ," Andrew Brust, its technology director. TwentySix consultant in New York (USA), commented.
