Microsoft joined OpenAJAX

After a year of final consideration Microsoft also decided to join the OpenAJAX Alliance to promote the development and application of AJAX web technology. Details of plans to join Microsoft's OpenAJAX Alliance have just been officially approved and announced at the 2007 Open AJAX World Conference.

After a year of final consideration Microsoft also decided to join the OpenAJAX Alliance to promote the development and application of AJAX web technology.

Details of Microsoft's plan to join the OpenAJAX Alliance have just been officially approved and announced at the 2007 AJAX World Conference on March 20.

In May 2006, Microsoft said it would consider joining the OpenAJAX Alliance.

Brian Goldfarb - Microsoft product manager and web platform manager - said his firm is now ready to open talks with any group of companies that want to pursue AJAX technology.

" Collaborating to develop AJAX is a great idea. It's also the goal that Microsoft has focused on over the years. Please try to look at the results we have achieved with Atlas. ".

Atlast is Microsoft's AJAX development platform. Atlas was later commercialized and renamed Microsoft ASP.Net AJAX.

" The goal of joining Microsoft's OpenAJAX Alliance is to partner with other technology companies in developing AJAX technology by creating the highest level of compatibility ," Keith Smith - Group Product Manager Web tools core platform and Microsoft UX Web / Client - said.

" Joining OpenAJAX once again confirms Microsoft's commitment to provide developers with a technology compatible with a variety of web browser platforms ."

OpenAJAX Alliance was established in February 2006 with 15 founding members: BEA, Borland, Dojo Foundation, Eclipse Foundation, Google, IBM, Laszlo Systems, Mozilla, Novell, Openwave Systems, Oracle, Red Hat, Yahoo, Zend and Zimbra. From 1/2 to 15/5/2006, there were 15 other members admitted to the alliance.
