MySQL has just released a security update to fix a security error in the client-server communication procedure in its database software.

According to the developer, this vulnerability could be exploited by hackers to exploit the buffer overflow to gain access to sensitive information.

Open source database software has been officially upgraded to MySQL 5.0.21 version. The upgraded version has fixed the security error in server database software version 5.1.9; 5.0.20; 4.1.18; 4.0.26 or older versions.

Security firm FrSIRT only classified this security error on an average level. However, the company also warned of one of the three security flaws associated with buffer overflow errors that could be exploited to test the binary code on the user system.

The remaining two security errors can be exploited when the information confirmation error appears. These security holes can allow hackers to break into a portion of the system's memory.
