In life, sometimes there are some catastrophes that cause serious consequences that nobody knows what the reason is. Recently, hundreds of sea turtles were found, floating off the coast of El Salvador in the Pacific Ocean.

Specifically, there are about 300-400 bodies of drifting sea turtles about 7-8 miles from Jiquilisco bay, and it causes authorities to scratch their heads to find out the cause. Most of the corpses found are in a state of decomposition.

"We still don't know the reason for their death," said the Ministry of Environment spokesman. To determine the cause, some tests need to be done.

It is known that this event happened in 2013 - the period between September and October. At that time, there were hundreds of marine turtles floating on the beach of El Salvador. The reason is because a neurotoxin comes from toxic algal blooms, or "red tide".

Poisonous algae contains saxitoxin. Sea creatures that eat this algae will be affected by the nervous system, causing suffocation resulting in death.

Earlier in 2006, at least 500 sea turtles died in El Salvador for swallowing saxitoxin. In 2010, 100 other individuals died as well for this reason.
