Crows are considered a smart animal

According to T elegraph , the raven has successfully selected the jars that contain the most food through the numbers recorded on the jar in a series of experiments conducted by Japanese scientists.

Shoei Sugita, professor of animal morphology at Utsunomiya University in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, said the findings suggest that crows have the ability to perceive arithmetic as humans.

In the experiment with 8 forest crows, 2 jars of food were numbered "2" and the number '5' on the lid was placed in a cage. Only the number 5 jar contains food but the crows have chosen the exact jar with a success rate of 70%.

In subsequent tests, Sugita and his colleagues used the numerical symbols of various shapes and sizes as well as many other numbers from 2 to 8 to evaluate the crows' skills.

The results showed that the crows achieved a success rate of 70-90% when choosing the correct food jar in 19/20 trials combining different symbols.

According to Professor Sugita, these findings confirm for the first time that crows can distinguish objects.

"We want to reveal more unknown things about the intelligence of the crow ," he said.

The results of the study were published in the journal Animal Behavior.

According to UPI news agency, last year Utsunomiya University experts discovered crows that could distinguish the faces of men and women.
