New tea varieties in Nghe An

The farm 3/2 (now the Agricultural Industrial Company 3/2) is located in the mountainous district of Quy Hop - Nghe An, until now, more than 40 years ago, there is a tradition of growing tea. However, the old seed is sown from the seed, the yield is not high and the quality of the tea is lagging. To solve this problem, in 2000, the company was provided by Phu Ho Tea Research Institute under the Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute with two new sets of symbols bearing tea sign of LDP1 and LDP2. The company has nursed 5 ha to cut propagating cuttings.

In which, there were 40 hectares going into stable business with the productivity of 9 tons of fresh bud tea / ha. The advantage of planting new varieties of tea is cutting, and the time from the down to 20-24 months is to start harvesting. This is the time of shaping, creating canopy for tea garden, so the yield only reaches 2 tons of fresh buds / ha. From the 3rd and 4th years onwards, the yield of tea has been harvested from 8-9 tons / ha.

Techniques of propagation : From January 1 to 2 solar calendar is to cut cuttings from seed orchards and put them into pots. Seedlings are placed under cover and must be regularly watered to maintain moisture. By September 9, the seedlings had enough time to grow. Before planting tea, the land was plowed and exposed for at least 1 month. Tea is plowed along contour lines to avoid erosion, arranged in rows from 1.2-1.4m, and planting density is 16,000 poles / ha. The amount of fertilizer lining over 1 ha including 12 tons of compost + 1 ton of lime mixed into the trench for 15-20 days before going down to the pots, and must use the grass cover to keep it moist, anti erode. However, it is forbidden to cover the original sealed cabinet to prevent damage to tea pots. In the first year, 1 ha of fertilizer was supplemented with 50 kg of potassium, 80 kg of urea. In the second year, apply 70 kg of potassium and 120 kg of urea. 3rd year: 100 kg of potassium, 120 kg of urea, 12,000 kg of organic fertilizer and 1,000 kg of phosphate.

It should be noted : Tea is a plant that likes scattering light, so when we start planting tea we also have to intercrop shade trees with a density of 160-200 trees / ha, the most suitable species is catsia or trau. Doing this is to maintain the tea business cycle for up to 30 years.

General assessment of new tea varieties, Director of Agricultural Industry Company 3/2, MSc Le Huy Dung said: First of all, it must be said that this tea variety is very adaptable to the growth environment in the midland and highland areas. An. It is a tree that is not picky, but grows well in the hills. This proves that it needs rapid drainage in the rainy season.

In terms of productivity, through actual monitoring, it has been shown that: Under the same conditions of care and protection, this new seed tea yield always gives harvest twice as much as the old one, because it divides fast, spread wide and big buds. More exciting is the quality of new tea buds with a characteristic flavor, delicious and acrid sweeter than the old varieties. Because of this, the company is planning to develop this new tea variety in the whole region.

Simultaneously with the production, the unit has invested in building a modern tea processing factory to cover processing all tea products for the whole Northwest Nghe An region. This is a valuable export product so the company is also conducting branding: Tea 3/2 Vietnam.
