The man who is about to have a head transplant surgery:

From patients to doctors are very confident in this unprecedented head graft surgery, although the surgery was strongly opposed by scientists.

Valery Spiridonov, 30, believes that the Italian doctor will help him perform a head transplant surgery so he can get a normal and healthy body. Valery did not even worry about preparing for this surgery, even he said: " We are doing science ."

While all scientists are strongly opposed to this surgery and claim that there is no scientific basis for it to succeed. It is suicide.

He went to see Dr. Sergio Canavero, who will perform this graft surgery, on Friday at the American Society for Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery. It was a very important meeting for Valery to decide whether to perform this surgery. Before that, Valery and Dr. Canavero only talked on the phone.

Sergio Canavero believes that this surgery will be a miracle of science.

Italian physician Sergio Canavero said he will perform head graft surgery for Valery in 2017. He believes that the success rate of this surgery is very high, maybe even up to 90%.

Valery Spiridonov suffers from Werdnig-Hoffman muscular dystrophy, causing him to be paralyzed almost all of his lower body and only his head and one hand are active. This graft surgery is the hope to help Valery get a new body, be able to walk and act like a normal person.

This is an unprecedented history of surgery, before which only a grafting surgery on monkeys was made but it also failed. Scientists also vehemently oppose this surgery and argue that the current technology is not ready for a head transplant.

However Valery did not worry about the surgery, he even told reporters: " We do this for science. If the surgery is successful, I will be able to return to normal life. and that is the best thing ".

Dr. Canavero is also very confident, he thinks Valery will be able to walk normally only about a year after the surgery is successful. He also outlined a fairly detailed plan.

Accordingly, the patient's head will be cooled before being cut off from the body, to join a new body. The biggest challenge is spinal cord transplantation, but Dr. Canavero says he can transplant the spinal cord with a special glue.

The surgery will take about 36 hours and requires up to 100 medical support staff.

A special gel that can help with spinal cord transplantation is the key to this surgery.

These are all unprecedented surgical methods. That's why Sergio Canavero and the people involved in this project are having trouble asking the Western Government for approval to perform the surgery.

We do not know if this surgery will be licensed or not, and whether it is successful or not. However, from doctors to patients, they are very confident in the success of the surgery.

When people are still unable to fly into space, everyone says that we cannot set foot on the Moon. But now people know that they can set foot on Mars, so is there anything that science and technology can't do?
