At the end of the study, scientists found that people who ate more tomatoes, carrots and leafy greens had less lung disease. Specifically: those who ate the most leafy greens (mainly spinach and lettuce) reduced their risk of asthma by 22%, those who ate a lot of carrots reduced their risk of disease by 20% and those who Eating more tomatoes reduces the risk of disease by 18%. This effect is still noted even in people with other problems such as overweight, excess calories, smoking and vitamin use.

Carrots, tomato and spinach juice contain many substances called carotenoids, some that help metabolize vitamin A in the body. This is a vitamin that helps regulate the immune system and helps maintain respiratory health.

Previous studies have shown that antioxidants or other nutrients in plant products can help prevent or improve asthma and other allergies.

Experts recommend that people eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day to maintain general health as well as help prevent many diseases.
