Exam content are complex challenges in algorithm and thinking in practical applications.

In this year's global finals, teams will have to address issues such as determining the optimal route to minimize traffic congestion while ensuring cost effectiveness, or building network strategies. optimal when setting up mobile phone towers to achieve the widest coverage. This tournament will also be an opportunity for future developers to become familiar with Java, Linux, Eclipse and other open computing standards being applied in the world.

BK-Eagle of Vietnam attended the finals this year - every year for many consecutive years won the first prize in the collective contest of the 'tents' in the country - including students Nguyen Tuong Quan (born in 1982), Nguyen Dan Thanh ( 1983) and Pham Huu Ngon (1984).

According to the results of the Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad in April 2005, the top three teams of the online "tent" exam block according to ACM international standards are the Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic team and the Public University team. technology Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences. These three teams participated in the Asia-Pacific qualifiers of the ACM / ICPC exam at the test points respectively: Tehran (Iran), Coimbatore (India) and Manila (Philippines). Although the first time to take the exam, the students of BK-Eagle had completed 6 out of 10 papers after 32 times of submission with 1.534 seconds, ranking 3rd in the final round at the ACM / ICPC test in Teheran. end of December 2, 2005.

Based on the above qualifying results, BK-Eagle is the only Vietnamese team to be qualified to compete in the ACM / ICPC Global Finals with 83 teams from prestigious universities of 6 continents (refer to Reference http://icpc.baylor.edu/icpc/Finals). Talking to VnExpress , Nguyen Tuong Quan said that the team is actively reviewing the exam questions in the past to prepare for this out-going round. According to Pham Huu Ngon, BK-Eagle aims to be in the Top 12 best teams in the world on American soil. " Each team member is in charge of different areas to cover all types of exams ," Ngon said. "However , when taking the exam, there is only 1 computer for all 3 people, so choosing which lesson before the following lesson will be considered carefully ". The group also said that rivals from Russia and China are always very strong teams. Shanghai universities and Petersburg's two countries took turns to win trophies in the last 5 years.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Long, General Secretary of Vietnam Informatics Association, has mobilized and organized the competition for Vietnamese teams in this tournament, said in previous ACM / ICPC competitions. Here, many Vietnamese students participated in the competition but brought "the shirt" of foreign schools where they attended. In 2005, at Coimbatore (India), there were 9 Vietnamese students (most of them had won the International and National Informatics Awards) to attend the qualifier under the name of another country.

Also according to Mr. Long, the global ACM / ICPC organization board approved Vietnam to become the 12th test site in the Asia-Pacific region, after considering heavy candidates such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia. This test score will be organized by Vietnam Computer Association at Hanoi National University in late 2006 (See more information at http://icpc.baylor.edu/icpc and http://www.itweek.org .VN).

ACM / ICPC is a long-standing and prestigious programming competition in the world with compulsory subjects such as thinking (algorithm) and programming skills (group resolution and coordination). With the sponsorship of the American Computer Association (ACM), the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM / ICPC) was held for the first time in the country in 1970. By 1977, there was a joint contest. link. Since 1989, the competition has expanded to a global scale and is based at Baylor University (USA). Contest teams wishing to enter the finals must qualify to be held at prestigious universities. Since 1997, after the sponsorship of IBM Corporation, the scale of the competition has strongly developed when tens of thousands of best students in the field of computers from many universities around the world participate. ACM / ICPC aims to develop creativity, team work and innovation in how to build software programs, while allowing students to test their performance under a very high time pressure. .

In 2006, worldwide, 6,037 teams from 1,717 universities in 84 countries and territories participated in 197 tables in different countries. Table A, CM / ICPC Asia - TBD, has 11 test points, of which China alone has 3 points. The remaining points belong to 8 other countries. Universities around the world can register for exams in their area online at: http://icpc.baylor.edu/icpc. Each school registered exam teams with 3 students and 1 coach. Before entering the competition, teams must participate in online competitions, exam structure such as the collective exam "tent camp" at the Informatics Olympics in Vietnam. Depending on the exam board, teams from 6-10 lessons, the right prize through online automatic dots (online test) get 1 point. Teams with the same points will be ranked according to the time of submission. Exam content uses Java, C / C ++ or Delphi programming languages.

At each test site, select the teams with the best performance in the qualifying round (no more than 3 teams and each school has a maximum of 1 selected team) to reach the World Finals finals. This year, 83 teams qualified to qualify for the 2006 ACM / ICPC World Finals, held from April 9-13, 2006 in San Antonio - Texas America. In 2005, the ACM / ICPC Championship was the team of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). Notably, although there were 3 test scores, China sent and participated in almost 8 points in the remaining area and won 10 places to attend the World Finals. Southeast Asia has 2 teams of Vietnam and the rest of the Philippines.
