A new study confirms that women generally cry more than men and cry twice as much. Experts also discovered the cause of this phenomenon.
>>>Why do women 'get wet' more than men?
The new study is led by Professor Ad Vingerhoets, a clinical psychologist at Tilburg University (Netherlands) and author of "Why only people tear down: decoding the secrets of tears" , proceeding . He talked with more than 5,000 people in 37 countries and interviewed them about their emotional reactions.
Professor Vingerhoets found that women generally cry 30-64 times a year, while this figure in men is only about 6-17 times / year.

For men, 66% of respondents revealed tears in less than 5 minutes each time, while 24% said they cried about 6-15 minutes. For the weaker sex, these 2 rates are 43% and 38%, respectively.
However, the number of women who cried for 16-30 minutes each time (11%) was twice as high as men (5%). The same is true for those who " cry " to 16-30 minutes or over 60 minutes.
According to Professor Vingerhoets, the above differences between the sexes can be explained by the fact that women often watch more tragic movies and read more sentimental poetry than men.
Discovering implies, men should be more empathetic when watching romantic movies with their partners. Professor Vingerhoets noted, in fact, when seeing a woman crying, men often feel uncomfortable and tend to ignore that person.
However, studies show that not only women cry when watching movies. According to Esquire magazine, the movies make the eyebrows teary include Shawshank Prison, Rescue Private Private Ryan and Babe Shepherd Pig.
The researchers also found that tears contained prolactin , a hormone produced by the pituitary gland and associated with the owner's emotions. Women have higher prolactin levels than men and this may be the cause of their "wetness" more.
In addition, according to the researchers, men have glands in their eyes that are larger, so they take longer to confuse water and allow water to flow out (tears) than women.
