According to the latest statistics, there are now 18 communes and 27 hamlets in 3 provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang that have recurred bird flu. The situation is complicated and is in danger of spreading, although there has been no new outbreak detected over the past 3 days, but it is predicted that in the coming days, it is likely that the epidemic will continue to develop.

Reported to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there were 7 suspected cases of bird flu (Ca Mau: 4; Binh Duong: 1, Tay Ninh: 1, Kien Giang: 1). Through tests, cases in Kien Giang are waiting for results, the remaining 6 cases are negative for H5N1.

After hearing the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Health and the Chairman of the People's Committees of the provinces said on the report, the Prime Minister instructed, had to compile and isolate the epidemic, and burned the dead poultry immediately and sick; not to spread to people; promote propaganda so that people fully understand the harmful effects of avian influenza, on that basis to raise awareness of this dangerous disease prevention.

Also on December 31, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung paid a visit to Ca Mau gas-electricity-fertilizer industrial zone. Here, the Prime Minister graciously encouraged and visited officials, workers, engineers and experts who are directly working on the construction site. The Prime Minister also reminded the project management board as well as technical workers to strive and accelerate the progress, at the latest in April 2007, to generate the first electricity to serve the people and work better. In order for the finished work to be quality, go into operation in accordance with the proposed plan.
