'Cheap' and 'cool' security with silicon layer technology

Security system on the chip, which is a technology that allows to collect the necessary information at the silicon layer to identify and lock suspicious packets.

Chips equipped with this new technology will be able to replace almost all existing security applications.

This technology, called Microsecurity, promises to "free" users from current security programs as well as reduce power consumption and heat levels of the system.

Although this technology provides information networking applications to identify and lock suspicious data from the silicon layer, only a few chip manufacturers pay attention to it. All claim that this type of chip will be cheaper, cooler and network security applications will no longer be needed. Manufacturers of workstations, servers, printers and other devices will be able to integrate security systems within the product.

Chip maker Mistletoe Technologies is working with a number of network component manufacturers to integrate VPN ( Virtual Private Network ) chips and RDX firewalls into their devices.

Network security company BroadWeb plans to integrate Zone Defender software into Mistletoe chips from September. The company has sold products using chip-based security technology, but the cooperation with Mistletoe promises to be more effective.

A firewall software based on the power of Intel processor chips with Gbps data transfer rate (gigabit-per-second) can cost about $ 20,000. Meanwhile, Mistletoe's built-in firewall costs only about $ 1,000.

Mike Bennett, Berkeley Lab's network engineer, said: ' With a firewall, everything is like buying a car. If you spend a little money, you'll get a low effect . ' Mistletoe's technology helped them solve the problem.

John Pescatore, Gartner vice president said: ' Mistletoe actually created a firewall right on the processor chip, rooted in the idea of helping network companies sell firewalls at cheaper prices .'
