Discover 57 new caves in Quang Binh

On June 22 at the hall of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee, Howard Limbert, head of the Royal Cave Expedition in Vietnam announced 57 new caves that have been discovered during the 2016 expedition season.

The Royal Cave expedition consists of 13 members led by Mr. Howard Limbert. The members of the delegation are scientists from Hanoi University of Science and Nature, and the manager of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The group successfully surveyed 57 new caves in 14 different areas with a total length of 20,127m.

According to Howard Limbert, the expedition caves most of the time had no human footprints and some caves had not yet surveyed the length of the cave. The team conducted measurements, took photos and recorded the parameters of the caves surveyed. Notably, Hoa Huong cave has a length of 2,876m; Tien 2 cave is 2,519m long; Bom cave is 1,500m long .

Interestingly, especially in these caves, there are deep sinking holes that create an unforgettable experience for the expedition such as a sink hole in a cave of 17 km deep, a cave of Leo depth 133m; Cay Mang cave has a sinking hole of 129m . Many caves have different underground currents such as Hoa Huong cave, Khe Rung cave . In the caves there are transparent fish species, some new crustaceans, especially White scorpions are very valuable for biodiversity.

Many caves have the potential for the development of exploring tourism such as Hoa Huong Cave, Bang Cave, Cay Sanh Cave, Ma Rinh Cave, Tu Lu Cave . However, attention should also be paid to conservation and drought. processing tourists when developing tourism, Mr. Howard recommended.
