After years of research, Australian scientists have discovered a compound in broccoli that can activate anti-inflammatory genes to expand the airways.

Dr Tom Karagiannis said the active ingredient called ' L-sulforaphane' could trick cells into activating anti-inflammatory and anti-oxygen genes. Eating two meals of broccoli every day can help asthma patients breathe more easily.

Experts recommend that asthma patients should eat green cauliflower over a long period of time, then gradually reduce, and should not cook broccoli too much to get the best benefit.

This measure should be taken in parallel with the doctor's instructions.

Scientists are continuing to research to determine the amount of broccoli consumption needed to prevent asthma at an early stage.
