Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) has successfully developed a device that can store fragrance and "re-radiate" whenever. They hope this system will work at online stores, allowing customers to enjoy the taste of products before purchasing them.

In addition, it can enable users to monitor new TV programs or help doctors recreate the smell of blood, bile or urine for remote diagnosis.

Lead researcher Pambuk Somboon said radiant products have been on the market for a long time but are not commercially successful due to the limited flavor.

In Somboon's system, 15 electronic sensors will recognize many different types of odors and "process" the 96 available chemicals in the machine. In recent tests, the device has successfully produced apples, oranges, lemons, bananas and melons.

Stephen Brewster, a computer scientist at Scotland's University of Scotland, believes that in the long run digital images can also be equipped with a scent mechanism to let users distinguish images without opening them.
