Find anti-obesity in wild pineapple plants

A substance found in wild pineapple (Agave) is capable of supporting the treatment of obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis and some other common diseases.

Recently, a group of scientists from the High-Level Research Center (CINVESTAV) has discovered a substance in the wild pineapple (Agave), the main ingredient for making Tequila in this country, capable of supporting the treatment of obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis and some other common diseases.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Mercedes Guadalupe López Pérez, head of the research group, said the substance is called indigestible sugar molecules. When entering human bodies, these molecules will go straight to the large intestine and be excreted.

This mechanism helps users not gain weight and does not change blood sugar index, two essential factors in the treatment of obesity and diabetes.

Tests on mice showed that after eight weeks of putting undigested sugar molecules into the animal, the mice had significant weight loss.

Scientists conclude that when a mouse has a substance in the body, the rat GLP-1 hormone (also in the human body and is considered to be able to regulate up to 70% of insulin) is triggered. Active, making them lose their appetite. On that basis, the research team believes that this mechanism actively supports the treatment of obesity and diabetes.

The team also found that experimental mice absorbed 50% more calcium than normal mice.

In addition, the above undigested sugar molecules also increase resistance, reduce the amount of bacteria that cause intestinal diseases, reduce the risk of constipation and reduce the risk of diseases such as appendicitis.

Dr. Pérez said that in the coming time, CINVESTAV will conduct testing on human body. If successful, this substance will open a new direction in the treatment of obesity and diabetes that "attacks" up to 30% of Mexico's population./.
