1. Look at the core between tomatoes

Genetically modified tomatoes often ripen evenly, the colors are much darker than natural tomatoes.

When added, the center of the tomato fruit is more normal and lighter in color, not red like a transgenic tomato (GMO).

2. GMO sticker

Another way to avoid buying tomatoes or genetically modified products when going to the supermarket is to look at the sticker.

  • Fruits and vegetables are grown in the usual way (with chemicals) labeled with a 4-digit code.
  • Organic fruits and vegetables are labeled with a 5-digit code, starting at number 9.
  • Genetically modified fruits and vegetables also have a 5-digit code, but start at number 8.

So far, whether to use genetically modified foods or not still creates many different streams of controversy. Many leaders in the food industry and many scientists support genetically modified food, but there are many who believe that GMO is harmful, causing many side effects affecting human health.

Most developed countries do not consider genetically modified food to be safe. Many European countries such as France, Germany, Greece, Hungary . have significant restrictions or completely prohibit GMO. Meanwhile in the United States genetically modified food accounts for more than 80%.
