The trial version of Microsoft Windows Live Mail, released on November 30, marks a reshuffle and makeover compared to the Hotmail service that it is still offering for free.
Within the framework of Windows Live, the service was launched by Microsoft in early November with the goal of " Webizing " desktop applications, Windows Live Mail was built entirely from zero ( 215 million current users of Hotmail will run on another system, independent of Live Mail ).
The software giant's goal when developing Windows Live Mail is to create a mail service with features and forms similar to Outlook Express, but the performance will be improved and upgraded by the Web platform.
The expected Windows Live package will provide users with a range of personal tools such as blogs and instant messaging software, along with email services. Microsoft hopes advertisers will be keen on the idea and pour funding to make it available to consumers for free, competing with rivals Google and Yahoo.
Most people will have to wait until next year to use this service officially, while Microsoft refines it. The software giant has invited thousands of people to test the beta since July and plans to expand to millions of testers in the next few months.
This test email version has about 10 interesting new features. Of these, notably the spell checker - detects and underlines the errors users make while composing a message. When you click on the word error, the service will suggest correct spelling or more accurate replacement words.
Mail security has also been tightened by Microsoft, especially in the detection of phishing and phishing emails. All incoming messages are classified into 3 categories with different safety levels: " Sender confirmation ", " Unknown sender " and " Unsafe ". Emails of type 3 will receive special "care".
The built-in search engine in Windows Live Mail also works faster, sweeping through the title and content of each message. Mailbox and contact list will have a scroll feature, which helps you browse for new news faster.
Compared to the capacity of 250 MB of Hotmail, 2GB of Live Mail is outstanding. Want to try this trial version, please visit Ideas.live.com.
