Microsoft said it is conducting three lawsuits against domain speculators (cybersquatter) to protect its brand.

Cybersquatter is most accurately defined as' Those who often go head to head on web domains are relevant or relatively similar to a well-known brand name. These domain names are not registered to use but to resell profits and serve ads ' attracting purposes .

Microsoft thinks this is a violation of copyrighted brand names. Statistics by the company show that every day those 'cybersquatter' register about 2,000 domain names that are related to Microsoft.

Most domain names are quite similar to " microsoftrebate.com , xbox36com.com and msnfinance.com ". Domains of this type are often used to make a profit from pay-per-click advertising. Up to a quarter of these websites use private services to fake Microsoft.

' Microsoft had to witness the emergence of a' virtual real estate speculation 'on the Internet for the purpose of attracting users to earn advertising profits ,' said Aaron Kornblum, a Microsoft lawyer.

Microsoft has recorded a dramatic increase in the use of such websites from an effort to monitor websites used for online fraudulent purposes conducted earlier this year.

In response, earlier this week Microsoft decided to sue four domain speculators who have earned a lot of profits from forging Microsoft domain names. Those who have been sued by Microsoft this time have registered up to 409 domain names that are considered to be trademarks of Microsoft.

Microsoft said its goal to conduct the lawsuits is to warn domain speculators to stop all activities related to domain name speculation related to the Microsoft brand.
