MIPS Technologies has introduced a new IP solution that allows mobile devices to transfer data via HDMI at speeds of up to 10.2Gbps. This product is mainly used for "digital house" models.
MIPS's new solution is developed on a 65-nm technology platform, and this is also the first product of this category. MIPS products are for optimizing HDMI connectivity in mobile, low-power data transfer applications, such as digital cameras, camcorders, portable music players, game consoles, mobile phones, as well as digital signal transceiver applications such as high-definition TVs, digital receivers .
The MIPS solution application for mobile devices and phones can push data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, and support 60Hz 1080p video resolution.
MIPS's data transfer solution is divided into 2 parts: IP transmitter via HDMI port and IP receiving device via HDMI. IP transmitter can support speeds up to 10.2Gbps; and the receiving unit also supports the same speed, plus the ability to receive video at 1080p 120Hz, 1440p, or lower.
In addition to the above features, the product also integrates direct memory access, eliminating the integration of additional video and audio distribution interfaces, allowing independent access from the HDMI controller to the communication Audio and video information stored in SoC system memory (System on Chip).
