43% of people surveyed by ICM research firm (UK) said they watched videos on the Internet or mobile phones more and therefore, the time spent on TV dropped significantly. The success of sites like YouTube paved the way for the online video world to grow.

Videos posted online are more and more popular among young people. About 10% of young people from 25 - 44 often surf the net watching videos, while only 4% of people over 45 have this habit.

Even so, online video is still only a small part with 9% of the population visiting regularly. About 13% of respondents sometimes watch and 10% say they intend to watch next year.

Currently big news agencies like BBC, CNN post news video version right on the website so that readers who do not need to turn on the TV can still see some programs that they like. BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are planning to provide most on-demand television shows on the Internet by the end of this year or early 2007.
