Mother quail stubbornly fights with two snakes to protect her eggs.
The video, shared by TikTok user @tresssawtucsonrealtor, captured Gambel's quail bravely fighting off a snake that was trying to eat its 18 eggs on April 17. However, the next day, the mother quail could not resist the second snake.
According to @tresssawtucsonrealtor, the snake entered the nest and ate 12 eggs, and the fight left the mother quail exhausted.
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum says Gambel's quail often use immobility tactics and rely on camouflage to avoid predators. However, in this case, the mother quail is forced to fight to protect her nest.
The video attracted a lot of attention on TikTok and received many compliments for the mother quail's courage.
