Following an 80-inch ultra-wide flat screen or 102-inch plasma TV, Samsung hopes to continue its success with mobile phones. The company is aiming for high-resolution thin products and improved hybrid touch screens.

" A lot of big screen manufacturing technologies are finding their way to mobile phones and vice versa, so users' needs are being met more quickly, " said Joe Virginia, Samsung's vice president for the department. TFT-LCD, expressed.

Samsung is applying LCD technology to cell phones with camera mode. In addition, they improved image quality by adding white to the standard RGB (red, green, blue - the three colors used to transfer the spectrum to mobile phones in movie and photo mode). ). With the new RGBW standard, the company says it can increase screen brightness by up to 70% and reduce power consumption.

While not detailing the handheld products, Samsung still revealed the new improvements they will make next year. In particular, the screen brightness will increase from 200 to 300 units; color palette from 262,000 to 16.7 million; resolution from standard QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) to WVGA (852 x 480 pixels); thickness from 2.1 to 1.6 mm.

"Hybrid" touch screen is a plan that Samsung is investing in development and promises to launch in the fourth quarter of 2006. Currently, the touch-screen phone screen uses a touch film plate placed on the glass. Another type of optical sensor from below will detect signals from a finger or a special pen. Hybrid displays combine both types and allow manufacturers to reduce the screen thickness to 1 mm.
