TerraNet test mobile network for free

Sweden's TerraNet company is testing a technology solution that allows making direct connection calls between two mobile phones without having a mobile network relay station.

The founder of TerraNet, Mr. Anders Carlius, said the idea of ​​the voice solution came to him during a trip in Tanzania in 2002. The condition of mobile networking was so bad that he could not call a His friend is standing only a few meters away from him.

Since then Carlius has been thinking about a technology solution that allows direct calls between handsets without the need for additional interference from other devices. Technology has been developed based on the platform model of peer-to-peer (P2P) technology as on PC.

This technology was developed specifically for remote areas, where mobile phone broadcast stations cannot be built. TerraNet hopes this technology will help improve the communication situation in developing countries.

Tanzania and Ecuador are the first two countries to use TerraNet's technology testing.

TerraNet technology requires mobile devices to be functionally calibrated, allowing operation as a peer-to-peer standpoint to direct data transmission or direct calls to other devices in the same network.

Not only that, the mobile device must also act as an intermediate point connecting other devices to expand the network coverage. On average, each mobile device like this has a range of 1km.

When the device is started, it will start searching for other similar devices within its range. If found, it will automatically create a connection to that device to extend its coverage.

When a user makes a device call, it checks whether the target device is in range or not, if the connection is made, the connection will be made immediately. Otherwise, the call will be forwarded through many other devices to find the final target device.

This means that the demand for an intermediary mobile network service provider will be eliminated, calls will be completely free.

However, Mr. Carlius must admit one thing. TerraNet technology solution requires too much mobile frequency band.

In addition to the ability to make peer-to-peer mobile calls, TerraNet's device can also be connected to networked PCs via a USB cable, allowing calls to some of TerraNet's other network systems. .

' If this solution is applied, everyone will have their own digital identity. They will exchange things with each other through the number of mobile phones they have been granted. We will have the opportunity to bring mobile networks completely free to everyone , 'said Carlius.

TerraNet technology is currently compatible with only one line of its own devices. But Mr. Carlius hopes this feature will be quickly integrated into all handsets equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology.

If this becomes a reality, it will probably put an end to the global GSM network. Then 70% of mobile phones will use TerraNet technology. Therefore, some mobile network service providers are not very interested in this technology.
