The first aircraft was powered by natural gas

Qatar Airways has made its mark in the history of the world aviation industry by successfully implementing its first commercial flight using natural gas , opening up opportunities for natural gas. this is for future aviation.

The special fuel, which has been researched by Royal Dutch Shell PLC for more than three decades, This fuel uses a 50-50 mixing ratio between conventional aircraft fuel and a synthetic oil by converting natural gas to liquid.

The A340-600, which was chosen to test the new fuel, has made a safe flight from London Gatwick Airport in London to the Qatari capital, Doha on Oct. 12.

As a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Qatar is also one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. This small Gulf Coast country is hoping to become the leading producer of synthetic gas from natural gas when it comes to commercial production of this fuel in 2012.

Qatar Airways has teamed up with Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Shell, and Qatar Air Force to develop a synthetic fuel for the aircraft. Improve local aviation quality by reducing emissions.
