Use water hyacinth to make organic fertilizer

Department of Science and Technology of Thua Thien-Hue province through the Center for Advancement of Science and Technology Application successfully implemented the project: "Supporting the replication of the treatment model of water hyacinth problems with Micromix probiotics -3 into bio-organic fertilizer ".

The project was implemented before the situation in Thua Thien - Hue, the water hyacinth grows strongly on lakes, rivers and streams, obstructing the flow, affecting the lives and lives of people in the area. In districts and towns such as Quang Dien, Phong Dien, Huong Tra, Huong Thuy, Phu Vang, Phu Loc ., water hyacinth grows and reproduces quickly, blocking ponds, canals and rivers; causing pollution, affecting the natural flora and fauna of the water environment.

Localities in the province have to spend hundreds of millions of dong each year to collect water, to clear the flow before the rainy season, to limit the collapse of bridges and ditches.

After picking up water hyacinth, it is put into the compost pile to ensure the weight, the process of stirring the island combines Micromic-3 preparation according to the technical process has been instructed; The implementation time is about 5-8 months in the year (according to the solar calendar) is the most convenient.

In 1-3 months time, the compost pile is satisfactory, good decomposition and decomposition of the pile. From the results of the dispersion and demonstration models in the project area, 250 households have access to the technical process initially, as well as the benefits of using Micromic-3 preparations to turn water hyacinth into manure. Organic bio-fertilizer in place, used for family agricultural production.

Currently in the project area, most people use bio-organic fertilizer in the process of growing vegetables mainly, some use in growing flowers such as Thuy Van and Thuy Thanh communes (Huong Thuy town) and planting trees. landscape, fertilizing rice in Huong Vinh commune (Huong Tra town); Phu Da town and Vinh Thai commune (Phu Vang district).

According to the reflection of the people, after the crops are applied with bio-organic fertilizers, there is a good growth rate, less pests, high quality products and high yield.

Particularly for growing flowers, plants grow well, produce beautiful flowers (beautiful, fresh flowers, good leaves, dark colors and more flowers), do not see pest status.

Notably, while the bio-organic fertilizer on the market has the lowest price of 1,500 VND, bio-organic fertilizer using Micromic-3 preparation processed from water hyacinth is only 860 VND / kg; As a result, every ton of fertilizer farmers saved 860,000 VND.

According to statistics of farmer associations in the project area, 1,522m ^{3 of} water hyacinths were picked up from local ponds, lakes and rivers; After treatment, there are nearly 254 tons of bio-organic fertilizer required.

The Department of Science and Technology of Thua Thien-Hue province asked the local authorities to pay attention and support to the people about Micromix-3 biological products, contributing to promoting the replication of this model. As a result, the efficiency will be doubled when farmers have added bio-organic fertilizer to improve soil and water environment.
