Strange frogs raise their young with the world's most special leg pouches.

Australian scientists have recently found a new type of frog that is very different from its relatives. It is even more 'weird' than its brethren known for laying eggs and raising children on its back.

Accordingly, this frog species lays eggs on the tropical forest floor, not underwater. The father frog will then lie on the eggs for 6 days until the baby tadpoles are hatched.

The tadpoles will burrow into small pouches on their father's legs.

Soon after, the tadpoles will burrow into the small sacs on their father's legs and stay there until they fully develop into legged frogs. They were named Assa wollumbin sp.nov in consultation with the Aboriginal elders where they lived.

This species is very small, only 1.6cm in size and is found on an isolated mountain in Wollumbin National Park . The habitat is almost too small with a small number, this frog is very vulnerable to environmental changes.

They were known to the Aboriginal people for thousands of years, but scientists have only recently known about them. It is also the most venomous frog in the world in terms of giving birth and taking care of its young.

Although rare and newly discovered, they were immediately listed as endangered after the bushfire disaster in Australia more than a year ago and are considered critically endangered.

These findings immediately shocked and became news of great scientific interest. A conservation plan for this frog species was also immediately put in place by the authorities to protect them.
