Baku today is a city with a sophisticated combination of classic and modern. Next to the bustling downtown are small stone buildings. One of the city's attractions is Piazzale delle Fontane , the square with fresh fountains that only flows at certain hours. Two other important works of Baku are the Maiden Tower and the Shirvan-Shah Palace from the Middle Ages.
According to historical records, the ancient city of Baku comes from the old Stone Age . By the 12th century, the Maiden tower was built in the city area, the Shirvanshah palace was built in the 15th century. These two buildings are all gems of Azerbaijan's architecture.
Maiden Tower is located in the southeast part of the ancient citadel, the tower was built in two stages. Tower with cylindrical and 8-storey height. Three basements were built around the beginning of the 6th and 7th centuries BC. First built with the aim of observing astronomy and worshiping fire gods. The next floor was built completely in the 12th century. Today, the evidence of the worship of the fire gods of ancient Baku is still present through a central axis to store fuel for the fire. . The floors are connected by a building stair system according to the walls.

The palace Shirvan-Shah was built in the 15th century at the time of King Shirvanshah Khalilulla and his son King Faruk. During a war with Russia in the 18th century, the palace was bombarded and severely damaged. By the 20th century, restoration work began. Many precious artifacts and ancient palace documents were stolen during the war, so today, though restored, fully recovered, but many antiques cannot be recovered. OK.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, Baku was one of the world's major oil production centers. The source of oil is the strength of the main economic source of the ancient city of Baku. This is still clearly visible if visiting the ancient city of Baku because in the city area there are still a lot of grand buildings built spectacularly showing the wealth of the people in the city.
The palace section was destroyed during the war and the palace's antiques.
Although very interested in conservation and restoration, due to the influence of climate and time, conservation work also encountered many obstacles. Made primarily from stone, but by the time, the plates have started the process of erosion, some places have to use iron walls to support. Many structures made of iron have become rusty and have been replaced with concrete. However, these replacements have lost the status quo of the heritage and more or less lost the overall beauty of the entire architecture in the city.
In tours to Azerbaijan almost all have destinations including BaKu Ancient Citadel, Shirvanshah Palace and Maiden Tower, because these are not only famous places recognized by Unesco but also really architectural works. beautiful, representing Azerbaijan.
