Intel is about to launch a new platform

According to a senior Intel official, the platform named "Caneland" for multi-processor server systems (MP) will be announced by the company in the third quarter.

The new platform will include the new quad-core processor Intel once called the "Tigerton", essentially the energy-efficient Xeon 7300 series. The new chip has a power consumption of 80 watts - for standard slot server systems, and 50 watts for blade server systems.
