In response to pressure from the Socket AM2 Sempron chip (AMD), Intel has just announced plans to continue reducing the price of Celeron D to the lowest level.

By the end of this week, most of the Celeron D series processors (from 356-331) will fall from 8.5 to 16.9%, ranging from 44-74USD. And until October 22, will be the total reduction for Celeron D series (from 360 -331): price decreases 8.5 - 14.5% (39-74USD). In addition, the latest version of Celeron D 360 chip (NetBurst microprocessor platform application) will be sold by Intel on August 27, at a price of 84USD.

Intel also hopes to launch a new processor platform - Intel Core in the second quarter of 2007 with its first product Conroe-L (single core). Before this time, the market share of Celeron D in the total number of Intel products sold to the market will decrease to only 12%.

Along with the Celeron D price cut, Intel also plans to introduce a Core 2 Duo E4300 chip in the first quarter of next year; and postponed the plan to release Core 2 Duo E4200 (expected in the fourth quarter of this year).
