Its use of copyright revenue in the fiscal year 2006 (ending May 31) has increased by 80% due to the huge demand of organizations and businesses in key industries. The number of regional Oracle Applications customers (except Japan) has reached more than 4,800.

According to Mark Gibbs, senior vice president of applications for Oracle Asia-Pacific, the fiscal year 2006 is a record growth period for the business. ' That strong increase stems from Oracle's focus on meeting customers' requirements for open, flexible and standards-based software .'

Oracle Asia - Pacific continues to affirm their influence with the number of licenses provided in key industries such as financial services, media, public services, government agencies, education, medicine. economics, manufacturing, retail and distribution. In the 2006 fiscal year, more than 250 companies in the region decided to invest in Oracle applications instead of SAP. Vietnam and Pakistan are currently the fastest growing markets of Oracle.

' Regional SAP customers want another alternative to an expensive, complicated and lengthy upgrade process, ' stressed Gibbs. ' It is clear that the era of proprietary applications has come to an end. The market is witnessing the emergence of systems that are easy to integrate, maintain and secure because they share the same standard . ' Currently, customers using Oracle products no longer have to pay for newly released upgrades, they only pay for the first license to use.

Also according to Gibbs, in the future, all software will generally be sold as services (SAS). ' The time for that to happen will be decided by consumers ', Oracle's leader predicted.
