This type of technology named MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging technology) works to prolong the preservation time of morning glory from 15-20 days at a temperature of 10-12 degrees C (normally can only be preserved about 3-4 days).
MAP technology is one of the methods to help regulate the atmosphere to reduce the respiratory intensity of vegetables to help prolong the life of vegetables longer than usual.
In addition, this technology has the effect of preventing water evaporation, changing the concentration of oxygen and carbonic in a positive direction, helping to limit the use of chemicals in storage.
The application of MAP technology for morning glory is relatively simple and easy to apply. To preserve the spinach with this technology, people just need to put the vegetables in PE bags (Ethylene Polime) with the appropriate thickness to regulate the air component in the bag so that the spinach will be fresh longer.
The Department of Food Processing and Processing representatives also added that MAP application is not only harmful to users' health, but it also retains nutritional value and quality assurance.
However, the price of water spinach applied this preservation technology will be higher than normal due to the use of this type of packaging (bag).
In addition to water spinach, MAP preservation technology can be applied to a number of other vegetables such as cabbage, cabbage, and other fruits.
'Currently some supermarkets are also implementing this technology for some items but due to the lack of research, at the same time, it is not possible to find suitable packaging for each product, so it has not prolonged the preservation period. in a maximum way as desired ' - Dr. Hang said.
