Girl Katie Renfroe, 4, has a rare congenital hypertrophy syndrome, causing some of her facial parts to be unusually large.

Katie Renfroe, 4, is the sixth child in eight children of grandparents Angie and Dan Renfroe in Paxton (England). But Katie is unfortunate to suffer from congenital hypertrophy syndrome due to genetic mutations, causing some of her facial features to be unusually large.

Syndrome also caused Katie to have surgery to remove a part of her brain when she was born to avoid an enlarged brain because her brain grew 50 times faster than normal.

Katie was found to have abnormal signs from the womb. During the first ultrasound examination, doctors found that the fetus in Mrs. Angie's abdomen had an abnormal head shape.

At the age of 3.5 months in the womb, doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola found that Katie's head was three times larger than normal. After that, doctors determined that she had a mutation of the brain hypertrophy syndrome.

Katie was born by caesarean section at Sacred Heart Hospital in January 2008. Angie didn't remember very much about the time she gave birth to Katie except for the trait she had a very big and lovely cheek, while Danial's father imagined the daughter's cheeks like two bunches of grapes.

As Katie grew older, her cheeks grew bigger. The ear is also deformed causing her hearing to decline. Katie's tongue was also larger than usual but still able to move flexibly in her mouth.
