Professor Pekka Tarjanne, chairing the ASEM Minister of Information and Communication Technology Conference, said that Vietnam's initiative to promote cooperation between Asian and European countries in the information technology (IT) sector is absolute possible.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, taking place in Hanoi on November 30, Professor Tarjanne, emphasized that Vietnam's initiative mentioned important points to contribute to promoting IT relations between the two groups. . These initiatives have required Eurasian countries to recognize each other's degrees in information technology, conduct training in information technology ambassadors, and facilitate the granting of work and study visas to students. and staff working on information technology.
According to Professor Tarjanne, the former UN coordinator of the information technology team, the initiative was given in the context of lower-than-actual potential between Asia-Europe IT partners. two continents. He also affirmed that the cooperation between the two sides will contribute to the backward countries, such as some countries in Africa, to access the IT world.
For a developing country like Vietnam, he thinks it is necessary to promote IT development to bring more benefits to the people. Therefore, 'it is necessary to consider this field from a social perspective, not merely from a technological perspective ,' he said.
According to him, Vietnam is one of the countries with a strong attraction to IT investors because Vietnam has a large and growing market. However, he said that Vietnam also needs to modernize telecommunications infrastructure as well as consolidate IT development policies and strategies, especially after officially joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). .
