Seagate Maxtor, the leading drive manufacturer, is expected to launch a new network storage device that can store up to 1 TB of information, compatible with both Windows and Macs.

This device is Maxtor Shared Storage II with Gigabit Ethernet connection and two USB 2.0 ports to connect additional flash drives or hard drives. Additional external storage systems such as Maxtor OneTouch and Seagate Pushbutton USB can be used with Maxtor Shared Storage II to increase capacity. Shared Storage II devices use two separate hard drives that can be reconciled to protect data. These two drives run at 7200 RPM (rpm) and have 16 MB of cache.

Like other network storage devices, Drive Shared Storage II can have separate and shared folders. It also features "Drag and Sort" to automatically arrange image, music and video files (up to 100 file types). Users simply drag the files into the desktop icon.

Maxtor Shared Storage II measures 137 x 99 x 216 mm, weighs about 2.7 kg and is suitable for household use as well as in small businesses. Shared Storage II drives will be sold later this month for approximately $ 900

Meanwhile, a Shared Storage device was launched a year ago using a single hard drive and has a maximum capacity of only 300 GB.
