Windows threatening Kodak software error

Hackers have just launched a malicious Internet attack on an extremely dangerous security vulnerability that exists in some versions of the Windows operating system.

Microsoft has released the above fix. Users are advised to quickly download and install bug fixes as soon as possible to avoid the risk of being attacked by hackers. That's an update with the number MS07-055.

Symantec said a malicious version was released on the Milworm website yesterday (October 29). But so far there have not been any attacks on users by taking advantage of this malicious code.

According to Symantec, the error stems from the Kodak Image Viewer software built into some Windows versions. This error can be exploited by hackers by embedding malicious code in a TIFF image file and tricking users into opening the file with Image Viewer. If successful, hackers can gain control of the user's PC.

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users are advised not to choose to install this software. Vista users can be assured, they are immune to the above code.

Marc Maiffret, chief technology officer of security firm eEye Digital Security, said the malicious code published in Milw0rm is just attacking Korean versions of Windows. But it does not exclude the possibility that hackers will modify them into tools to attack other Windows versions.
