On September 2, Intel will officially release the fastest-looking version of the mobile Core 2 Duo - Core 2 Duo T7800 - while cutting the price of some of its chips.

Register Hardware said the Core 2 Duo T7800 will replace the high-end T7700 series for laptops currently available in the market. The Core 2 Duo T7800 is clocked at 2.6GHz and operates on an 800MHz system bandwidth. L2 cache capacity reaches 4MB.

Also released with the T7800 also has 2GHz T7250. The target of the T7250 chip is to replace the 2GHz Core 2 Duo T7200 chip running on 667MHz bandwidth. The T7250 operates on 800MHz bandwidth but has only 2MB of cache, 2MB less than the T7200.

The launch of T7800 will lead to a reduction in the price of a range of other products belonging to the same line such as T7700 and T7500. Since September 2, the price of these two processor chips will be only 316 USD and 241 USD when purchased with a quantity of 1,000. The current price of T7700 and T7500 is 530 USD and 316 USD. Meanwhile, the selling price of T7300 and T7100 will remain the same.

Intel has not announced the selling price of T7800.

On the same day Intel will also release a version of Celeron M mobile 550 chip and reduce the price of other products in the same line. The Celeron M 550 chip operates at 2GHz and replaces the 1.86GHz 540 version currently on the market. Parallel to that, the price of another series of Celeron M products will be cut. Celeron 540 will cost only 107 USD and 530 to 86 USD - equal to the price of 520.
